[Happy 10th ARMY Anniversary!](https://imgur.com/a/DT70AEd)
Hello everyone! Today is July 9 in Korea, also known as ARMY anniversary day for us! This is the day that BTS gave their fans the name “ARMY” on July 9, 2013.
The mods would like to invite the sub to celebrate this year’s 10th ARMY anniversary day by spreading positivity, philanthropy, and stories! Therefore, in the comments, please share anything relating to the topics below:
* How/when/why you became an ARMY
* A charity you recently donated to (or just donated to for today!) – please provide proof that the charity is reliable and reputable!
* Your favorite BTS/ARMY interactions (can be personal or a clip that makes your heart happy)
* Something that BTS has inspired you to try or do
* Any sort of precious BTS or fandom memory you have (concert, live event, ARMY meetup, or virtual hangouts!)
* Something you love about the fandom (in general or a specific moment)
* Anything else relating to the fandom or you being a fan!
For extra feelings, [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9ebekPfh2Q) is a video of BTS reading a letter to ARMY in 2013 at one of their first fan meetings, and here is the [We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal MV](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UWBYJjuIL0) 🙂

Happy *ARMY* Day everyone !! I hope we’re all having a wonderful morning / afternoon / night wherever we are 💜
It’s been a long time since I wrote(or thought of) what the word ARMY means so here we go : Adorable Representative Mc for Youth
and even though the fandom became huge in comparison to how it used to be when I joined, I’m glad that our core collective values as fans are still the same -aka- loving and supporting Bangtan
Till the day we can reunite with our favourite artists, our bestfriends
let’s be, laugh, cry and be happy together a little longer ~ ARMY forever, Bangtan forever
Happy ARMY day! In 2021 I lurked on this sub in the first few months of being a baby ARMY. I loved the way it kept me up to date on all things Bangtan. Bc of you guys I learned so much more about BTS and their abundance of amazing, heartfelt, hilarious content and I can proudly say it helped me graduate to full fledged ARMY for life 🙂
I absolutely love being a part of this sub and fandom, which brings me as much joy as the boys do. I love laughing, crying, and thirsting with you all! May you all walk down flower paths and have beautiful spring days. Borahae💜
happy 10th anniversary ARMY!! it’s hard to believe it’s already been 3 years since my brain stopped linking “BTS” to mean “behind the scenes” and “ARMY” to mean something related to the military, but i don’t regret any single second of it. this sub in particular has been such an integral part of my ARMY life, and along with discovering more about the members, i’ve made so many ARMY friends through here too, which i will always be grateful for 💜
there have been loads of great memories, but one that is a core memory for me was travelling to vegas to watch BTS in person for the first time. they are the only musical act i’ve ever flown overseas for, but BTS and ARMY truly are made of something special and travelling halfway across the globe was so worth it, and the fact that i got to enjoy it with u/amala83 and u/friedlumos too made it even more memorable. here’s one of my fave pics from D2 of PTD vegas – the chaos of it all makes me burst out laughing every single time 😂

Happy anniversary ARMY! You all, especially everyone on this sub, are amazing, kind, and make my day better almost every day. When I talk to my friends about Bangtan, I never fail to mention that I’m a fan of ARMY too, not just of the boys. The fandom with its own fandom 🙂 We have the power to move mountains 💜💜💜
happy army day!
one thing i like about the fandom is this subreddit. it’s relatively drama-free (thank you, mods) and feels like a safe space. here i learned there are a lot of armys who are my age (the other day someone nearly half my age called me the oldest kpop fan they’d ever met. i’m 36 🥲)
bts inspired me to cook more dishes from my family’s country of origin. they also introduced me to korean food.
rm inspired me to pay more attention to my surroundings. my hometown is great for namjooning, it’s old, walkable and there’s a lot of public art. but because i’m so used to it i was no longer paying attention to its beauty.
i recently donated to an [als](https://www.als.org/) related charity. imo one of the most terrifying diseases out there.
Happy ARMY day! I’m thankful for this community and the hard work of the mods, making it a positive and reliable place for info and fun! Tiny Desk Army here, they were the best pandemic hobby ever.
As impressed as I am with Bangtan, I’m equally impressed by the community that has gathered around them to support them and each other. Connecting online to other ARMY has been so a flashback to the 90s internet for me (hello other older ARMY). Being in a sea of ARMY bomb lights, singing our hearts out post pandemic isolation was magical and a gift I will never take for granted. It’s also something I immediately want to have over and over again.
I was just listening to the Spotify live of DDay while shopping, and I love listening to Yoongi talk to ARMY, teasing the crowd, sounding playful and loving. Thanks to whomever at HYBE and Spotify made that and Busan YTC audio available 💜 (Ddaeng when? 🙏🏻)
Y’all and Bangtan make my life richer and more fun. Thank you and Happy Anniversary!
Happy birthday ARMY!!!!
I had the best interaction with ARMY today while clicking this and 100 other photos at the Dynamite LEGO BTS Event in SG! So much fun being in a crowd full of ARMYs clicking photos and what a joyful celebration of ARMY day. 😭
Also, while I was at a mall foodcourt I saw a girl whose wallpaper was a Yoongi DDAY concert pic😭 She also had a PC on her phone’s cover. I immediately took out my phone to show my PC and my Wootteo bag charm.. but she didn’t look.

Happy Army Day, r/bangtan Army! You all are a special bunch! I remember initially lurking here, reading all the Run BTS! reaction threads. And then reading all the album megathreads. My first concert was online and they were so much more fun reacting with you during the live threads. This is my go-to place for any new Bangtan content because we know how to enjoy and have fun but still do it respectfully (if there’s such a thing as appropriate thirst 😆).
I also got a kick out of seeing Army IRL. For the longest time, I thought you all were just unicorns. Seeing Army in the flesh during the D-Day concerts was such a treat. You all exist!
Can’t believe I’ve been here for almost 6 years now, time does fly!
Thank you to all who contribute to keep this amazing community strong and safe!!
I actually met amazing people here that have helped me have amazing experiences like flying to see BTS so I’m eternally grateful to this sub!
happy army day!! 🥹🎉 I became army near the end of 2019/2020 and forever wish that I joined the fandom earlier. I only joined this sub last year too, very grateful to be part of it and this community, genuinely feel like I now couldn’t be without it 😅 thank you always to the mods for making this a safe space and to army here 🫂💜
I am yet to experience meeting more army and going to a bts related event irl, hopeful for that day to come in the future! apobangpo 🥹🙏🏻🫶🏻
HAPPY ARMYVERSARY YOU GUYSSSSS
Happy ARMY Day!! I’m never been shy about how much I love this community. I’m not sure there are words to describe what becoming ARMY has done for me. After PTD LA, Lenika Cruz wrote an [article](https://www.theatlantic.com/culture/archive/2021/12/bts-concert-permission-to-dance-sofi/621031/) about the concerts that I’ll never forget, and her last few words were
>The image that stays with me is of people’s hands reaching up in unison, through the fluttering confetti, toward the sky. Eyes wide, as if in disbelief. As if nobody had told them that going to a concert could feel like coming home.
And that’s exactly how it feels to be ARMY. I’ve been to a lot of concerts in my life, but none like a BTS concert. Everyone there sharing one mind, one heart, understanding exactly how everyone else is feeling. It’s so rare and special and I will always be grateful.
Borahae! Apobangpo!
Happy ARMY Day everyone 💜

This year is my 5th year as Army and I am so thankful I found BTS and this community. My life became so vibrant because of them
– 7th year as an army
– Donated to Turkey earthquake (have no screenshot like a noob)
– Jin cult and beardtan remain unmatched. Serious answer would be them interacting with us on weverse.
– Watching them win artist of the year in 2016, seeing them win at bbma’s 2017, dynamite number 1, fandom: raising money for BLM, outcast au, buying 2!3 whenever they were getting hate, comebacks where k-armys would tell I-armys to sleep because they got us and vice versa…
– everyone being from different places, different backgrounds.
Happy Army Day, everyone! 💜 I remember when I first found the Bangtan reddit around the time of the BTS’ Vegas concerts. As a new army, I have learned so much. The Bangtan reddit is amazing.
Happy ARMY Day everyone!
I became interested in BTS around february / march 2022. I just got into k-dramas and was watching Hometown Cha Cha Cha. Thanks to the algorithm I came across a fan edit with the male lead and it had Butter as the background music. I found it so catchy that I looped the song for a whole week.
I came across Dynamite and listened to both songs so much but wasn’t really interested in the band yet. Then april came and That That was released and this song slowly pushed me down the rabbit hole but it took until right after Festa last year that I considered myself an ARMY.
And omg what a wild ride this year was. It was like experiencing a whole new world. I consider myself a HUGE Harry Potter and Taylor Swift fan but being an ARMY feels totally different. The connection that we and the Tannies have is unique. It almost feels like we all are a huge family.
And even though I don’t have any ARMY friends in real life, participating with you all in this sub comes really close for me. This sub is my safe space because here I can share my excitement about the boys without being judged. You all just *understand* what muggles (like Namjoon said😅) can’t.
And I just love watching lives with you all together. It’s always so fun. Other highlights were the BangBangCon and Yoongi‘s Seoul concert livestreams. I had such a great time watching and reading your comments in the sub.
BTS inspire me so much. They made me do things I never thought I would do.
I have social anxiety and general anxiety. The pandemic made it really worse. In January they did the pop up shop in Berlin and I went there by train alone although I never booked a train ticket or left my hometown alone before. I was an anxious wreck but I did it and all went smoothly. It was one of the best days of my life and I will cherish the memories forever.
And also seeing Jungkook working out on his last livestream inspired me to start working out again and to focus on my weightloss journey. Just yesterday I finished my first week of working out everyday and even though it’s hell at times, I feel proud for pushing through.
They also inspired me to learn Korean. I was always interested in learning languages. While German is my first language, I had a blast learning English (and French, but sadly I forgot everything) and now it just feels so natural to me.
I started learning Korean last year but it was inconsistent. I restarted in May and I have been studying everyday since then and it’s just so much fun.
My favorite BTS / ARMY interaction was when ARMYS surprised the Tannies by singing young forever. I always get goosebumps when I come across the video. What a great day this must have been for all the people that were there.
Anyways, borahae and apobangpo 💜
ARMY of 7 years 😱 but didn’t join this sub until last year 😭 I was just doing it on my own and finally wanted to connect so I gave up and created social media accounts lol.
I just love that we’re all a big family 🥹
Happy Army day!
This is only my second Army anniversary, but it feels like it’s been longer. I found BTS at the end of 2021, but didn’t consider myself an Army until early 2022. I remember thinking that even though I loved BTS, I wouldn’t call myself an Army. I only saw myself as a casual fan in the beginning, not an Army. I don’t know when it changed, but after a couple of months it became natural to think of myself as an Army.
BTS made me do things I was scared to do. They made brave enough to do things I found scary after the pandemic, like going to the cinemas to watch their concerts. I’m really thankful for that, because otherwise I wouldn’t have realized how fun it can be to experience something like that!
I had never been in a fandom until I found BTS, so I never knew how amazing it can be. I don’t have any Army friends except my sister, but being a part of this community feels like I’ve got people who understand me in ways no one else does. I love this community.
I’ll always be thankful to BTS. They make me so happy, but they also make me feel safe. I love them so much.
Apobango! 💜
YAY!!! HAPPY ARMY DAY, EVERYONE!!!!!

This is my 2nd anniversary as an Army. Kinda bittersweet since I came in on the tail end of OT7 being together before solo activities. But I feel that trusting Bangtan and coming here to this sub/reddit will make things more bearable till 2025. Many thanks to the mods for their work and fellow Army for their support…this sub is my therapy after all lol
One of the things I most value about Bangtan is their W and VLives. They make such a huge effort to include us and to share their appreciation and love…especially JK…yeah he’s my bias heh
I regret so much that I wasn’t an Army when the guys did their tours but…as the saying goes…you find them when you need them…so I will look forward to the future tours.
APOBANGPO!!!
Wow happy army anniversary everyone! It has been such a pleasure and such a comfort becoming army and especially participating in this beautiful subreddit. Thank you to all the mods and users who keep this place safe, active, and my main hub for all things BTS!! Army forever BTS forever!!!
Happy Army day everyone! Grateful for these past two years as an army and for the community on this sub!
I found BTS in May 2022 but I didn’t expect it come with package with something else – ARMY. Now, one year later I can’t say what I’m enjoying more in this adventure – group or fandom, definitely all together. Huge role for me plays this subreddit, where information and emotions mixed with respect and support. Special thanks to unknown Army who gave me this wristband in the train in NY. Every time it reminds me about memorable Suga’s concert.

What made my heart happy today? This thread! Yes, I’m corny like that. I love how this sub celebrates ARMY. Happy birthday, everyone! I can wait to read the book and talk about it everyone here. I’m still new. It’s either been a year, a little under or over, but I have already formed so many awesome memories here. The chats we have when there is an online concert make me happy. I adore the sense of community we have here. I never thought I would be so into a fandom or a music group, but army transformed my preconceived notions of myself and others. Proud to call myself army and to love BTS music. I’m no longer afraid to tell people yup I love bts. 😁. I credit everything to this fandom. You all help me feel a little less weird.
Looking forward to forming more memories with you all!
APOBANGPO!!! 💜
Happy ARMY Day!
I had heard about BTS as early as 2017/2018, but didn’t fully pay attention until December 31, 2019 when I saw them perform on *New Year’s Rockin’ Eve*. The pandemic was horrible in so many ways, but BTS helped me get through it because I had the time to go down the rabbit hole and fully immerse myself in everything OT7.
I recently donated to the Micronesian Climate Alliance (Typhoon Mawar Fund) which directly supports disaster-recovery efforts on the island of Guam. I found out about this organization because Lenika Cruz (writer and fellow ARMY) set up a fundraiser for those impacted by the recent disaster. If you’d like to donate, [here is more info](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfL9-WXat8vKC8KgpyVftug4mEMbzhTxXxwZ0xXX9hI1bmT6g/viewform?pli=1&fbclid=PAAabJ9M6Jdkv-m5uW_bLKdcccZk4jlGvkBkdpaZWfbFAYi8GkUGQLCdG9dbw_aem_AX-c8srL8eU1ud-MH18JLs7kMtpLbeMJ4tcwnLWHIkQ6yzpGu6w0FuTr_IUhZrKf6OI).
I’m so appreciative of the unbelievable memories and friendships that I’ve made thanks to BTS (and r/bangtan)! I can’t believe I had the opportunity to experience to PTD-LA with u/rioofthetenshi and PTD-LV with u/alltherach_ and u/friedlumos! I love my various BTS group chats with ARMYs from all over the world. I also love that I’ve found ARMY friends locally through BTS cupsleeve events. I’m really excited to be a part of the Bangtan book club too!
When I got into BTS, my daughter was about 1.5 years old. She’s now 5 and a full-fledged ARMY. It’s been fun introducing her to BTS’ music and Kpop, in general.
I was initially drawn to BTS because of their music, but stayed because of OT7 and ARMY.
아포방포 🫰🏻💜 보라해 🫰🏻💜
Happy Army Day! Wuhoo!
This is my first official year as baby army. Haha. I was a casual listener of BTS ever since 2017. It went on for years until the pandemic happened…. It was Dynamite (NPR performance) that has special place in my heart because I was confined in the hospital. This was my music every morning. Since then, I found myself watching their variety content, and now the weverse lives 🙂
Ever since then, I tried participating in the Army community online. I do have army friends outside which helps. We can talk a lot about our bias for hours. Also, special shoutout to this community too, this is my safe space for anything army related. I’m 35 btw and enjoying interacting with all of you 🥰🥳🍰

I started volunteering my time teaching kids. Alas, it’s summer vacation so it’ll resume this August 🙂
Borahae!
Happy Army Day!
I became an army around 2017-2018, when my cousin showed me a spoof video of BTS’s Go Go dance practice. Atp I only heard about kpop and kpop idols, but I didn’t really know who BTS were although the name sounded familiar to me. I thought BTS were really funny, especially in their snow white and the seven dwarves costumes, and I decided to check out more of their stuff. At this point in time I was still in my “not like other girls” phase so I was pretty aggressively telling everyone around me “noooo i’m not a fan of BTS I just like their music, I don’t like them for their looks like OTHER GIRLS do” (even tho I was fangirling over V when I watched the DNA MV). Anyway, so proceeded the usual route of falling down the BTS rabbit hole – checking out their music, learning their names, watching Run BTS episodes, and eventually becoming a loud and proud army. My journey of stanning BTS is special to me because it signified me growing up and getting rid of my “not like other girls” attitude lol. First bias was V because of the DNA MV, then it was Suga, then Jimin, and now I can’t decide which member I love most because honestly they’re all great lmao.
Happy ARMY day, everyone!! I’m so glad to be a part of this community, I’ve never seen anything like ARMY before!
BTS and ARMY has influenced me to view the world much more positively. I was (still kinda am) a cynical person, but now I try to put kindness first in my daily interaction. I tell friends I love them, I make sure I say something nice to people around me, and seeing how happy they became, has made me feel much more happier too!
So to everyone here: thank you for being you and for existing in this life. 보라해!! 💜💜💜
Happy ARMY day!!!
I became ARMY in December 2019 when I decided to go see what the buzz about BTS was about. I searched them in my Spotify and gave Boy With Luv a listen. It was catchy and I liked it well enough so I hunted down the MV. A few hours later and I was furiously googling trying to find labeled pictures with their names. Then Black Swan was released and absolutely rocked me. Then the pandemic hit and life got very scary…Watching their old Run BTS episodes on YT and goofy clips on tiktok was such a source of comfort and joy in an otherwise terrifying and dark moment in my life. Life Goes On still makes me cry every single time.
I had the privilege of seeing SUGA in Chicago (my bias, eeeeee!!!) and I can sincerely say that meeting other ARMYs was one of the most fun experiences of my life. Everyone was SO kind and sweet and generous and it really felt like being surrounded with thousands of friends. I’ve been to lots of concerts in my life but I’ve never seen anything quite like that and I can’t wait to see all 7 of them.
Happy Army Day everyone!!
I found BTS through Army, thanks to a longtime friend of mine who has been Army since 2016. If only I’d listed the back when she was raving to me about their new song Fire — but instead it wasn’t until 2020 when I finally got curious and asked her to send me a list of her top 10 BTS MVs.
Not only BTS, but Army got me through the pandemic. This community here has been a mainstay for me, and it’s been so special to share joy and worry and love and comfort with everyone.
I finally got to experience that in person at Suga’s concert this year as well.
BTS brings out the best in people and that best is Army.
Happy Army Day!!! I’m coming up on my 1yr official Army-versary in late August so I still consider myself a baby.
* I had heard of them before but was reeled in after seeing all the clips of their shenanigans and cute brotherly antics, then Hobipalooza happened and here we are.
* A few years ago, before I took the BTS plunge 😂, I came across a clip of [this video](https://youtu.be/VuNdnPIdmgA) where Halsey shared about her experience with Army and I thought it was so sweet and I’m sure it had to have bee. edifying for Army, especially about making the world better by donating in people’s names!
* A charity I recently donated to (and also today for this occasion) is the [Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights.](https://www.theyoungcenter.org/) They do amazing work for children of any country who have found their way to the US under difficult circumstances and it combines the two social issues I feel most drawn to. I would love to get more involved with them but for now just able to donate.
* And lastly, I just want to say how grateful I am to have found this community, this fandom, this sub! I’m constantly in awe of the members and Army, the wide range of talents, interests, abilities, etc. Everyone has been so kind, welcoming, helpful, and I don’t feel like a crazy person when I gush about this or that post/song. It has been so fun, whether it’s interacting here or when I met people IRL at Yoongi’s concert in NY, and I’m so excited for many more years with you all. Thank you and, sincerely, borahae! 🥰💜🥳
