    trans by [TMIKpop](https://twitter.com/tmikpop/status/1681073728862420994?s=46):
    > On 17 Jul, Western Branch of the Daegu District Court Criminal Division 9, sentenced a 28 year old male to 1 year 2 months in prison (< the translator might’ve accidentally left this part out), three years probation and 240 community service and 40 hours of psychiatric/mental health education for violations of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection. From his home in Seo-gu, Daegu on 22 Feb 2022 at 4:36, Mr. A contacted a BigHit music producer and pretended to be a BTS member.
Deceived, the producer gave Mr. A info about the group’s activities as well as unreleased music files. After (receiving the files), Mr. A was accused of posting unreleased music files on Instagram 27 times and/or sent them to others via Kakao Talk until 20 May 2022 with the intent to interfere with production, release and sales of BigHit and the producer’s sound source. According to the prosecution, Mr. A obtained the producer’s personal info via an internet search and committed the crime to convince others he was a successful composer.
The prosecution had demanded a 1.5 year prison term. A’s lawyer pled for leniency, saying that A was having a difficult time due to a past criminal record. He had studied music but became jealous of friends that became successful and this led him to commit this crime.
The court took into account that while the victims could have suffered substantial property and social damage, the leaked music files were mostly edited and posted in short lengths, that the music was eventually released as a full-length album even after the leaks and that BH music dropped criminal charges.

Did I somehow miss this happening? I don’t remember at all hearing about this last year 🤯

  3. rocketmammamia

omg this is WILD the members just cannot catch a break 🙁 when will people stop violating their privacy and that of those around them? has it ever been this bad before? it feels like a new story every week

  4. sincerely_not_today

I’m not saying it’s excusable, but this is just sad.

  5. PossibilityCorrect18

Hybe needs better security, how can a producer so easily believe he was talking to a bts member??

    Edit: typo

  6. Why do I feel like this is that account/person who was leaking snippets and audios from proof before it came out? it lines up since it happened last year as well

  7. hope he stops posting fake leaks I’m tired of people thinking he knows something

What the heck?! I must have been under a rock back then because I don’t remember hearing about this (or I was really good at keeping my socials clean).

This Chapter Two has been wild – mostly positive but sadly some really weird/bad things happening.

1.5 years seems far too short. I understand the guy has some issues but again, invasion of privacy does not seem to be taken seriously in South Korea.

Wow, this just makes me realize that I might even get scammed as long as the person sounds legit

  10. I don’t understand how a producer just thought he was talking to a BTS member…
Hope they update/introduce protocols for that.

  11. Mama2chobbes

I can see someone doing this for clout or money, but what makes it sad is that it seems they were at least acquainted with one of the members 😕

  12. Sweet_Pea_Marie

For a hot second I thought it was the original 8th member before debut. I was like, he said he was doing fine post cut and living well and happy for the guys. am so glad it wasn’t him but sad and annoyed that this even happened.

This producer must have been a one off – one hit wonder producer.

  13. kitty_mckittyface

This sounds like something out of fiction, it’s so strange

  14. I can’t believe this happened so…easily? why is it always the tannies and things like this happening 🤦🏼‍♀️💔

  15. mirrorball7

I remember seeing leaks on YouTube even months before Proof was announced guess now we know why.

  16. Consuela_no_no

Hybe needs like a weekly code word when speaking to BTS members, so that nonsensical shit like this never happens again.

For ARMYs who don’t know this happened-
So apparently a hashtag started to trend on Twitter about proof album leaks and a lot of twitter armys started to report and mail BigHit, Twitter armys also got in touch with Instagram, YouTube, Weverse armys and made them aware of the situation and almost everyone started to report the leaks, BigHit found out and then took care of the situation and the issue was resolved

The reason why a lot of armys don’t know about this because very few armys knew about this- mostly fanbases who made sure to inform other fanbases/big accounts so that it doesn’t get a lot of attention

Look, the first rule of verifying online identity is to clearly ask for a photo of the other party holding up a paper with your name and today’s date on it. I mean, come on!
