This comment struck me the wrong way: “translation issues, with the singer (like most of his fellow BTS members) not having a complete command of English”. Like wtf
Overall, decent interview, JK being JK.
Edited to include the screenshot I took when I first read the article since they edited the article afterwards.

Some… interesting questions…?!
What stood out to me:
> Q:Some of the group members are using their solo albums to explore sides of themselves that are maybe darker or at least don’t get as much play in group situations. But you seem very comfortable with mainstream pop music, judging from this song. Do you feel like you have a side of yourself, musically or personally, that you hope to be able to show that hasn’t gotten as much spotlight?
>A:It’s my official solo debut, so everything is a challenge and feels new and fresh. Of course, I think a lot about delivering good music and performance while working on my music. But above all, as this is my first step forward in the spotlight as a solo artist, I want to show a more mature and grown version of myself.
>Q: What’s going to follow this single — how much more is in the pipeline?
>A: I’m working hard to release a solo album this year. It’s early to mention anything specific, but look forward to it!
Some of these questions were so… 🙄 And he doesn’t really say much in his answers either.
The interviewer questions just don’t feel very strong. Some are strange, some are lightly researched, some seem to be fishing for answers.
For instance, what was he looking for in the release order question? I general want to know what kind of answer he thought he was gonna get.
Also, im currently still reading the book but this interpersonal relationship question and the “like the one you have with Jimin”? I feel like he just ran across some BTS best ships content online and threw that in there he ain’t open that book.
Edit: Changed my tone on this. Just think the questions were not great.
omg we get it people think the song has the potential to be a hit but please shut up about it😭the amount of times we’ve seen people say that this past week is actually agitating
Sorry… wtf were these questions?
I thought the emphasis on his English skills to be a little shady, ngl.
Is it just me or the questions are like wtf.
Wow! So rude
I’m not clicking on this article. I saw enough screenshots on my Twitter that I know how shady it is. When articles like this, I’m reminded of my disappointment at American media. Like why? We should know all about microagressions and yet some of these “journalists” never seem to know better. Annoying.
Am I crazy or did they try to slip in a question about shipping. His answers were thoughtful for the questions presented and he always seems lovely but the questions themselves were a YIKES
I love how thoughtful and respectful he is in the interview and my boy weren’t you carrying on a total sexed up boyo vibe in this song??? Lol jk’s duality floors as always.
Some very odd questions in there, not a huge fan of the tone of the article. Jungkook gave great answers though as expected.
Edit: The edited comment about his and the band’s English was really infuriating.
i read this and then came to the comments so i’m so glad to feel validated that this was….. uhhh….. a really weird interview? like firstly i’m shocked to find out they apparently initially pointed a finger at jk’s english abilities, which is just…. rude and unprofessional? interviews are VERY frequently conducted with the aid of a translator.
then singling out jimin in one question felt very weird, like they were fishing for specific answers or looking for clickbait – of course jk and jimin are incredibly close, and so are all the members??
and then the part where jk laughs at ‘big hit’ where they made it sound like he laughed at the idea of the song doing well, when it seemed fairly obvious to me that he was laughing at the words ‘bighit’ and the interviewer completely missed the reference to the company??? so badly researched lmao
asking if he released ‘still with you’ and ‘my you’ to get people hyped for the single, when it’s
just a nice tradition for each member. the interviewer clearly has done very little research on the group, the other members or solo era whatsoever. like when he said jk is right in the middle of the pack for releases, when actually only tae is left? like it doesn’t even matter but it’s so weird that they specified that he’s releasing right in the middle when he’s actually second last?
such a weird interview, it’s such an odd combination of horribly invasive, unprofessional, badly researched and then actually not saying anything at all???
this is why i’ve been slightly bothered by them clearly making this a distinctly ‘american’ debut for jk – an english song, american writers and producers, debut performance in the us for an american tv show, english interviews….. mainstream western media still doesn’t treat bts with the seriousness and respect other huge artists are granted. they’re still seen through the lens of their ‘big crazy obsessed fandom’ rather than via their own artistry, and i guess i just feel like in korea they are treated with the dignity and prestige they’ve worked so hard for and deserve. we certainly wouldn’t get ‘journalism’ like this if a korean journalist was granted an exclusive interview for jk’s solo debut
Ha ha, that’s just what I was thinking, with the explicit version of the lyrics. I haven’t read the article yet though.
The writer is an old ass white man.
You know who Id love to interview Jungkook, Questlove. He understands music – all genres. Hell, he teaches a course at NYC or Colombia.
That was a really lovely article/interview. Looking forward to seeing what he has up his sleeve for his future solo album and any other possible performances for Seven.
Looking at some comments here – they clearly went back and edited the article – why would they feel the need to be disrespectful about his English in the first place – that’s so shameful and rude.
Ah, I regret giving this a click. Should’ve read the comments first
