Finally, bighit. Now let us all shut up, and live in peace. Borahae.
Are we really making them do this? Based on a TikTok? 🤦♀️ can we just let them live their private lives in peace thank you
Okay! There we go! Now can people stop harassing both 😭
I still think the whole situation is weird like why post it? but let’s all move on guys. We shouldn’t give a shit about his love life in anyway.
the full statement from bighit:
> Our company has refrained from making any statements until now in order to respect Jimin’s private life as well as the individual being mentioned in relation to it.
However, as speculative reports concerning the artist’s personal life have continued to surface and groundless rumors have been circulating, we find it unavoidable to clarify the bare minimum facts.
The artist and the individual in question were once acquainted with mutual affection in the past, but that was several years ago, and they are not in a relationship at present.
We ask that you refrain from making reckless speculations about their private lives. We earnestly request that you also refrain from any actions that could cause harm to the individual who is being mentioned alongside the artist.
Honestly, it’s exhausting and infuriating that these grown-ass adults still have to ask permission to have a past, or explain the most basic, private things about their lives to total strangers. Jimin (or anyone) shouldn’t have to put out an official statement just because a segment of the fandom can’t mind their own business. If anything, it only encourages the most entitled behavior. “Oh, if we dig and harass and speculate enough, they’ll eventually respond!” It’s gross.
It’s not only not fans’ business, it’s also a form of control. Demanding clarification, making them account for their emotions, their friendships, their romantic histories, it’s all so invasive. It’s not love. It’s ownership dressed up as “concern” or “loyalty.”
I get why the company did it. If they don’t, the speculation snowballs and people start harassing not just Jimin, but also the woman involved, and then it becomes a circus. So they try to shut it down cleanly, but the fact that it’s necessary at all is just another sign that idol culture (and parasocial culture generally) needs to grow up.
Youtuber Ben Kim summed It up best when he said “Privacy” end quote. This was in relation to the whole basically sh*t storm this has caused. He is a human first, idol second.
Also do people really think they don’t date and basically live link monks? It isn’t any of our business what they do in their private lives. I have no interest in knowing anything other than they are happy, healthy and when is the tour happening? Also, the album is going to be a banger!
It sucks that they even had to post this. I’m sure kpop fans who don’t claim to be fans will be very normal about this
I will say, it’s still weird she was posting a 5yo video randomly and without his consent… And kpop fans cared more about a relationship than a violation of privacy… But it is what it is I guess.
Wow I found this very upsetting to read 🙁 I saw discussions about this pop up on my reddit feed from other kpop subs a few days ago but promptly muted them since it all seemed very invasive and speculative. My twitter timeline has been clean except for a few vague tweets asking to respect the members’ privacy. And I thought that’s that, that people would move on.
I am shocked and disappointed that it may not have blown over like I assumed it would? Is there a lot of ongoing harassment to the point of requiring Bighit to release a statement? That too about a years old relationship that has ended. Most of all, that this happened to Jimin who is one of the most careful about maintaining his personal life and keeping things private. I really hope he’s doing okay and that people leave him alone.
With that said, this is a pretty clear and concise statement that I hope people will accept and MOVE ON.
Somehow I don’t think confirming there was a relationship years ago is going to lessen the harassment for her?
i hate that jimin was basically forced to admit he was in a relationship because of all the rumours and speculation. their private lives should just be that – private. they don’t owe us anything.
i hope people can let the matter rest now.
Wow a BTS first – really outside of BH’s typical style for this. Hopefully everyone can move forward from this now that it’s been clarified.
I feel so sad for him that his privacy had to be invaded this way. They don’t deserve this. They deserve way better, but some “fans” just don’t get letting them have a private life.
It was basically, THERE GODDAMIT MOVE ON.
Acquainted with mutual affection is a new way of describing it I feel like.
I still don’t understand her angle. Maybe she was hacked? Idk.
I do like that it’s just a statement vs. apology type situation, but I do think this wont fully stop this women’s imo inappropriate/attention seeking behavior which is truly a shame. Nobody, celebrity or regular degular commoner, should have to deal with a this type of ongoing behavior from an ex-acquaintance…
I find her behavior so odd. Still, it was my experience that most army were respectful of BTS privacy. The negative chatter, as always, mostly came from the outside and some delusional souls. Whatever, ANYWAY, back to streaming and saving up for 2026! (Not rn tho, it’s 3 am, goodnight💜)
I’ll just hope everyone who acted weird about this (for whatever reason) can stop being weird and keep it moving 🚶their personal lives ain’t my or anyone’s business
Is it just me or is this statement kinda off? I would’ve thought they’d have a more strong statement (if any statement at all) about protecting the artists’ privacy and taking action against spreading of private info or something, not confirming speculations/rumours. Idk.
Oh so that’s what my Twitter timeline has been about! It was filled with things like reporting people for privacy violations and just a lot more love for Jimin than usual, but reasons weren’t being mentioned at all.. I also posted a few things I love about Jimin and left it at that. And now I understand that ARMY were trying to drown out these unnecessary stuff! I really wish BH didn’t say anything, but then again for them to say something, Jimin must have really been bothered by it!
ETA: SHE released a video? Poor poor Jimin!
it really sucks that he had to confirm his past relationship in this way, but i think it was a good move. she obviously was trying to provoke him/provoke conversation about their relationship, this draws a line under it and takes away her power to hold this over him.
i see people wanting BH to sue but i don’t think they’ll do it. It was a past relationship and (very unfairly) i think they’ll consider the optics of it and we also don’t know how mentally stable that lady is.
anyways i hope everyone can just move on from this, i don’t want to hear a single apology from him and don’t need him to ever address this again.
I’m not blaming bighit for making this statement since they / jimin have more context than we ever will about to why they consider it was necessary.
But I, with no insider knowledge, genuinely don’t understand why the statement was required at all or what it resolves. Why did he HAVE to admit anything about his past or present private life? How does this statement make anything better for Jimin? If it was purely to appease “us”, the (deranged element of the) fandom I’m so very sad and disappointed for him.
It might be petty of me but I do hope that woman never works again as an actor or in any role with a public spotlight since she craves it so much.
Being an idol must be so flipping exhausting.
Jimin deserves better. Hope he is okay
Jimin is such a sweet person. My main worry about any relationship confirmation was how awful it would be for the woman involved and statements denying it usually makes fans say the most awful things; As an example, the Suran situation left a bad taste in my mouth. This statement shows he really valued her and cares to some degree as he is addressing the recent rumours but making special mention to not harm the harm the other person.
That said, it’s still super weird and not okay to post an old video about an ex especially if they have been over for a number of years. That’s so wrong on so many levels and a major breach of privacy especially since Jimin is known to be extremely private. I don’t know what circumstances led her to do that but if her ex person doesn’t blame her for it then I guess it’s time for us all to move on.
